Fashion:
Indian Summer Blues
By Bonny Osterhage
If you’re like me, you are probably ready to shed your sandals and sundresses and embrace fall eco fashion in all of its rich, luxurious glory. You won’t have to wait much longer, but until it’s time to go “full fall,” you have the cumbersome task of marrying seasonal style with unseasonable temperatures. I call it the Indian Summer blues but, thanks to these beautiful transitional pieces, I think we’ll survive them without breaking a sweat.
Koch Abbott Organic Cotton Shirt
We think this is a perfect shirt for those Indian Summer days. The lightweight organic cotton and roll-up sleeves will keep you comfortable, but the mustard shade is all fall. Pair it with jeans and boots and you’re good to go! $185 at www.kaightshop.com.

Chinti and Parker Striped Organic Cotton Dress
Trendy stripes in neutral gray and taupe colors accent this lightweight, but long-sleeved, dress. The way the model is working it with a denim jacket and booties is transitional dressing at its best. $150 at www.net-a-porter.com.

SERIOUSLY?!
A Step in the Wrong Direction
We applaud anyone who wants to make a difference by manufacturing eco friendly products. However, when the product in question is an $18,000 pair of flip flops that you can’t even wear, we have to say, SERIOUSLY?!
David Palmer Chipkos or, the “World’s Most Expensive Flip Flop,” is the result of a collaboration between eco conscious footwear company, Chipkos, and contemporary artist, David Palmer. Meant to be a whimsical piece of art, this fancy footwear even comes with its own reclaimed wood and glass display case. Again, SERIOUSLY?! While we are all for life’s little luxuries, if we’re going to blow $18,000 on something that’s luxuriously eco, it’s not gonna’ be a pair of beach shoes that we have to keep on display in a box! Although we are pleased that the company pledges to adopt 100,000 square feet of Costa Rican rainforest with the purchase, we still think this may be a giant misstep. $18,000 at www.chipkos.com.

Beauty:
Say “Ta Ta” to Bad Skin
In an effort to combat the toxicity found in many high-end skin care lines, Tata Harper set out to create the same luxurious look and feel of those products, using only 100% natural ingredients — and boy, did she succeed! The Tata Harper skin care line not only looks and smells beautiful, but it also makes you appear flawless! While the entire line of skin and body care is exceptional, we were blown away by the Rejuvenating Serum, a miracle in a jar that really delivers! Fine lines and wrinkles seem to disappear, and in their place is radiant, dewy skin. The secret lies in the natural plant extracts and essential oils that work together to transform your complexion. Once you try it, we bet you will say “ta ta” to toxic ingredients forever. $150 at www.tataharperskincare.com.
