OUR EARTH DAY ISSUE
EARTH DAY IS TOMORROW, APRIL 22nd! DO SOMETHING THAT'S GOOD FOR THE PLANET!
EVERY DAY IS EARTH DAY
By Bonny Osterhage
What’s the big deal about April 22? We know it’s Earth Day and, don’t get us wrong, we are glad for the attention it brings to environmental issues. But, what we want to know is what about April 23, 24, 25 and so on? Why do we have only one day designated to educate people and encourage them to become aware of the environment and what we can do to preserve and protect our resources? For the following companies, every day is Earth Day. Through their business practices, these eco fashion businesses are giving back to the world in remarkable ways. What better time than Earth Day to give them a shout out for their efforts and encourage others to help them in their journey?! Together we can make the world a better place, not just on April 22, but the rest of the year as well.
SERIOUSLY?!
STRETCHING DOWNWARD DOG TO ITS LIMITS…
So, tell us — do the dogs in these photos look happy and “balanced?” So, why on earth would their owners subject them to “Doga? To us, it borders on animal cruelty! Yet, Doga classes are popping up all over the country and it’s exactly what it looks like, yoga classes for you and your dog.
Seriously?! Do these instructors really think your dog is going to enjoy balancing on your thigh while you strike a warrior pose or wants to sit on its hind legs doing a sun salutation?! And, where exactly do these people think that the downward dog position actually came from? Dogs don’t need a yoga class — they were born zen. If you want to exercise your precious pup or make them happy, grab a leash, take them for a walk and let them pee on every bush and tree. That’s what makes them happy. What’s next — doggy boot camps?
CELEBRATE EARTH DAY IN
EARTH TONES
By Bonny Osterhage
What better way to say Happy Earth Day than by wearing eco friendly clothes inspired by nature’s palette? We’re not talking bland or boring — earth tones can range from the deep browns of the forest to the sandy tones of the beach. Throw in a splash of terracotta, reminiscent of the earth’s own natural clay, and you are ready to party with the planet-savvy. The fact that our top picks all find ways to respect the environment with eco friendly materials and/or practices is just the icing on the Earth Day cake!
