The Classic Vest Makes a Comeback in Fun and Eco Friendly Ways
By Bonny Osterhage
If you are going to purchase one transitional eco fashion piece this season, may we recommend investing in the vest? Designers have a vested interest in this classic look for fall and are offering vests in a variety of sizes, shapes and fabrications. From fitted and tailored to relaxed and slouchy, the vest is the perfect addition to any wardrobe because of its excellent layering capabilities. Wear it alone or over a tee for warmer afternoons, or sport it underneath a hot boyfriend blazer when the weather turns cool. The following finds illustrate our point and won’t divest you of all your fashion funds.
SERIOUSLY?!
So here’s the poop — There are actually people in Maine who make jewelry from the droppings of moose. This makes two facts very clear. First, people in Maine have waaayyy too much time on their hands and second, I could make a fortune by digging around in my son’s guinea pig cage.
Yep, earrings, necklaces, tie tacks and more have all been fashioned out of moose poop and (here’s the strangest part) there actually seems to be a market for this. The droppings are guaranteed to be completely dry and odor free, as well as coated with polyurethane for “safety.” Seriously?! Who is wearing this s@#! — literally. True, if you didn’t know what it was, it isn’t unpleasant to look at, but come on people! You can glam it up any way you want. The bottom line is that it is still poo. Do we really need to say more?

SO HOT!
Sweet Home Alabama Chanin
Who says east and west coasters have the market cornered on fashion? Certainly not the talented southerners behind Alabama Chanin. This unique line of clothing and home décor is hand made by a group of artisans, who live and work in (you guessed it) Alabama. Using new, organic and recycled materials, they have created limited edition and one-of-a-kind pieces that combine a laid back southern style with an eye for the fashion forward. Each piece in the collection is numbered and signed by the artisan who created it — your own wearable works of art. We like the Poetry Straight Skirt, made from 100% organic cotton. The all over poetry appliqués are completely hand-stitched and you can choose from a myriad of colors. $830 at www.alabamachanin.com.
