LAYERS OF SUBSTANCE
The Blazer Moves from Stuffy to Stylish
By Bonny Osterhage
One of our favorite trends this season is the resurrection of the blazer. No longer associated with prep school snobs, the blazer has relaxed and quit taking itself so seriously. From the slouchy boyfriend variety to a more traditional fitted cut, we love these eco friendly styles for their ease, versatility and wonderful layering capabilities.
SERIOUSLY?!
In Your Face!
Look at these photos. Seriously?! What in the world were these people thinking? Could they possibly think that this is attractive in any way?! They’re even going so far as to call these contraptions “couture.” Seriously?! The message from Bio-Accessories,
who makes this and several more equally ridiculous accessories, is that urban dwellers can connect with the joy of nature — literally, with their face or head. The face mask brings Hannibal Lecter to mind (now, there’s a fashion icon), while the bird perch begs the question — what happens when the bird hears nature calling. SO HOT!
Make Clothes — Not War
We knew animal prints were huge this season, but how about huge animals? EDUN has teamed up with digital media magazine, Dazed and Confused, to create four larger than life wildlife designs that grace the front of organic cotton tanks, tees, and dresses. Fifteen percent of the sales from this graphic limited edition collection will benefit War Child International, an organization dedicated to protecting children who live in dangerous war zones across the globe. Now that’s huge! $70-$175 at www.edunonline.com.
