THE GREAT GREEN GIFT GUIDE 2009
The Greatest, Greenest Gifts for Everyone on your List
By Bonny Osterhage
‘Tis the season for giving and, regardless of the holiday you celebrate, green is always in good taste. No, we are not talking about money — we are referring to eco friendly gifts. The joy that comes from giving green is two fold: First, there is the joy that comes from finding and giving a gift that you know will be cherished. Second, there is the joy that comes from knowing that you are doing something good for the planet we are so blessed to inhabit. It’s a can’t miss, feel good approach to the holidays that will benefit you, the recipient and generations to come. We've found some amazing gifts for her and for him! Happy holiday shopping!
Hairy Business
For anyone who has ever wondered what became of Cousin IT of “Addams Family” fame, you will be happy to know that he is alive and well, and has been seen masquerading as a purse. This bag, made from human hair, is part of the first line of wearable (really?) works by silversmith Polly van der Glas. Okay, Seriously?! This is so creepy, words can’t even describe. But if you think this is bad, check out her other “wearable” items, including human hair earrings and jewelry made from human teeth. We are Seriously grossed out! www.vanderglas.com.au
Playing with Shapes
Lara Miller’s fresh and bold architectural approach to fashion is right on target in this hand loomed bamboo sweater. Aptly named the “Geo,” the geometric print works wonders on the female figure by drawing the eye in at all the right places, creating a figure flattering illusion. Rather than trying to compete with this statement piece, we suggest keeping the rest of your look simple. Skinny jeans or pencil skirts are a sure bet or, if you’ve got the gams, we love the way these models are working it with tights and boots. $375 at www.kaightshop.com.
