Clogs are Back and Better than Ever
By Bonny Osterhage
You live long enough, you see trends come and go — and come again. Some we hope will stay away (parachute pants anyone?), while others we welcome back with open arms (hello leggings). Thanks to Karl Lagerfeld sending Chanel clogs down the spring/summer runway, this season will see the strongest return to the clog that we have witnessed since the flower power days. But these are not your mamma’s clunky clogs. The 2010 styles are sleek and fashion forward with sky-high heels and platform soles. If you don’t own a pair, now is the time to get at least one because vegan and eco friendly clogsare a must for fall! Oh, and don’t throw them away — they’re bound to make another appearance in a few years! Talk about recycling!
Our Top 10 stories now call out which finds are “ECOnomical” (good for the Planet and your wallet) and which are worthwhile “Splurges” (in our humble opinion).

Alloy Keller Clog
We actually think this one should be called “killer” clog because look at that killer, sexy 5 1/2" heel! Made from faux leather and rubber, this Chanel inspired vegan shoe will have you looking head and shoulders above the rest! $36.90 at www.alloy.com.

Casual Fridays Brown Boho

Clogs are most widely associated with the bohemian look and this pair leans more to that original style. A plain and simple top is dressed up with a shapely, albeit shorter, heel. Try it with one of fall’s longer length skirts. Great for pulling off that whole “boho-chic” look! $29 at www.alternativeoutfitters.com.

Naya Irina
This clog is a little sweet and a little sassy when you combine the preppy ribbon on top with the edgy nickel-free studs along the side. Made from chrome-free suede with a recycled cork outsole, we think it would look great with the season’s full skirts and snuggly sweaters. $149 at www.zappos.com.
