We’re all watching our wallets these days, given the tumultuous economy. But…come on…we all have that “shopping gene,” which, as hard as we might try, can’t be completely subdued. In this week’s issue, Laurel House gives you her take on shopping in your own closet. I’ve never been a summer wardrobe kind of girl. You might say that I endure summer fashion. How strange is that coming from someone who has lived in sunny Southern California my whole life?! But, I relish the time when the seasons change and we move into cooler weather and…wait for it… BOOTS! Okay, I'll say it... I'm sooo tired of my summer clothes. But, it's still way too hot to transition to fall. So, here I am, lusting after boots, sweaters and anything else with long sleeves, while I stand in my closet trying to figure out which summer top I can stand to put on one more time. To my delight, many of my favorite eco friendly clothing and accessories designers are rolling out their fall collections slowly, but surely into the stores...and they're fabulous! But, I still can't bring myself to shop for fall yet because...it's still just too hot. I'm sure you can relate.
So, for now, we'll just call it getting prepared. In that spirit, we'll be rolling out fall eco friendly essentials for work and play. We're starting with 10 of our favorite eco friendly fall basics for all us working girls. I don’t know about you, but the phrase “Green is the New Black” is getting a little old for me. Labor Day is fast approaching and that means the last great parties of the summer...sigh... So, to make sure your celebration is perfect, we've gathered up our favorite organic spirits and some tasty recipes for each one. For some reason, we Americans are very heavy into vodka...martini lovers that we are...and there are four vodkas that made our list, both pure and flavored. But, we've also found gin, a single malt scotch, tequila, rum, some wonderful liqueurs and one of our favorite spirits, based on the açai berry. Most of these spirits are now carried in bars, restaurants and stores around the country, so you can ask for them at your regular haunts. Salud!
