Eco friendly fashion websites are popping up faster than you can say, “Green is Gorgeous.” We give accolades to the sites that are not only picking some of our favorite designers, but also are appealing and easy to navigate. The ones we’ve chosen below as our Top 10 (in alphabetical order) are not about bamboo tees and hemp socks…They are all about hip and trendy fashion, that happens to be good for the planet.

BEKLINA
This website basically gives you a bunch of snapshot photos that you have to click on to see what they are (not our favorite approach), but the bottom line is that the clothes and accessories they have are very cool. In addition to a large selection from Stewart+Brown, there are some very avant-garde looks, like asymmetrical organic cotton skirts and tops from Nicole Bridger and trend-setting styles from Mocium. They also carry handbags from one of our favorite handbag designers, Ashley Watson. www.beklina.com

 

BTC ELEMENTS
While it has some well know lines, like Ecoganik and Del Forte jeans, this site prides itself on lesser known collections, like Earth & Sky, Rebe, Convoy and Perfectly Imperfect.  Make sure you check out the wonderful clutches by Marion Jones. Each item has a nice description of the designer. While it’s mostly geared to women, the company recently introduced tees and shirts for men.

COCO’S SHOPPE
Coco’s Shoppe gets right down to business. Pick a designer…see the products they offer. You can also shop by category. They carry all the well-known brands, as well as lingerie and natural beauty products. The company also offers styling and “find the perfect gift” services. www.cocosshoppe.com

 

ENVI
Envi is actually a trendy eco women’s boutique on Newbury Street in Boston that also has an online store. They carry well known brands like Stewart+Brown and Loomstate, but they also have Moral Fervor, Grace & Cello, Kelly b and many more. www.shopenvi.com

 

 

 

GREEN WITH GLAMOUR
A very cool upscale website that oozes chic…with quotes from Coco Chanel and others and a layout that will remind you of InStyle magazine. You’ll find several designers we love, including Beau Soleil and Sameunderneath, along with some nice surprises, like Sublet Clothing and Heather Heron handbags. HIP AND ZEN
Hip and Zen takes an eclectic approach to fashion, combining high end designers like Deborah Lindquist and Ecoganik with handbags made of recycled plastic, hand made in Africa, colorful organic baby clothes and unique and exotic eco friendly or fair trade gifts for the home.

This uber-hip website actually comes from an uber-hip boutique in Manhattan’s Lower East Side that’s all about sustainable and ethically produced clothes. Featuring what they describe as “emerging designers” from the U.S. and the U.K., lines include Stewart+Brown, Linda Loudermilk, Undesigned by Carol Young and Charmone Shoes. www.kaightnyc.com

 

MODIFY
Now, here’s a website that’s thought of everything and their approach is novel. They have a broad range of brands, including…yes…Stewart+Brown. (Are we seeing a pattern here?). The homepage gives you a choice of shopping eco fashion or vintage fashion.  And, the company also offers a “personal shopper” service, where you just fill out a simple form and they’ll help you out. If that wasn’t enough, in addition to women’s fashion and accessories, they have beauty products and home décor, not to mention a blog. We love their creativity!  www.shopmodify.com

 

SAKS GREEN HOUSE
The new kid on the green block, but certainly not new to upscale retailing, is Saks Fifth Avenue’s Greenhouse. They’ve done a very nice job of starting basic with a few great brands, like Beau Soleil, Song and EDUN in the clothing category. THE GREEN LOOP
No bells and whistles or fancy design elements for this site, just a whole lot of great clothes and accessories brands for women and men in an easy-to-navigate environment.
