In the fickle world of fashion, trends come and go. But the one trend that stands the test of time is denim. Seriously, can you think of a more universally appealing and versatile item than a great pair of jeans? Thanks to some of the most recognized names in denim, as well as some of the leaders in the organic clothing industry, there are now plenty of jeans that let you
and the earth live happily ever after.
You’ve gotta’ love a company that oozes happy…When you visit Horny Toad’s website, you immediately want to join whatever party it is
they’re having there. And, they’re new spring collection completely reflects this sense of pure casual fun. You just know that the clothes are going to be amazingly comfortable and will probably inspire you to go climb a tree or plan a picnic. Now, we have to point out that not all of Horny Toad’s styles are green fashion in the true sense of the word, but they’re working on it. Many are now made of eco friendly fabrics because, as they put it, Horny Toad is “hell bent on doing the right thing.” The company has also partnered with non-profit organization Search Developmental Center to form Planet Access Company (PAC), which provides training and work opportunities to adults with developmental disabilities, many of whom work at Horny Toad.
So, let’s talk clothes. First up for us is the Cherry top. It’s a very cute waffled tee with a gathering at the neck and sleeves that hit just above the elbow (oh so flattering…).
It comes in striped and solid versions and is made of “Jitterbug,” (Horny Toad loves to name its fabrics), which is a combination of Supima Cotton and Model (natural fiber) with just a little bit of spandex to hold its shape. Now, pair the Cherry top with the eco friendly Libby drawstring jersey knit skirt and a pair of flip flops and you’re stylin’! It’s 90% organic cotton and again, has just a drop of spandex. There are a lot more styles to choose from that just make you long for the weekend so you can get cute and comfy in these duds. Make sure you check out the “perfect for knocking around” Ruby dress and the striped Wren tank.
The bottom line is that we like to call Horny Toad our “wellness” clothing line. It’s all about easy, comfortable, fashionable clothing for playtime. Who doesn’t crave that?! www.hornytoad.com![]()
KATE HUDSON AND HER HAIR STYLIST, DAVID BABAII, TO LAUNCH NATURAL HAIR CARE LINE
What’s not to love about Kate Hudson? Her bubbly personality, killer body and gorgeous mane of hair is the stuff that Hollywood legends are made of. But, now we have an even better reason to love the effervescent Kate. This
Hollywood golden girl has teamed up with her longtime hairstylist and friend, David Babaii, to create a line of environmentally friendly professional natural hair care products and styling tools. David Babaii for WildAid products contain an exclusive blend of exotic natural ingredients and are free of sulfates, parabens, animal products and animal testing. The products are formulated for all hair types and consist of shampoos, conditioners and styling aids, including a “Bohemian Beach Spray” for creating sexy tousled beach hair à la Kate. The line, scheduled to launch very soon in mid-to late March, will be carried at Target, Ulta, Sally’s, CVS, Walgreen’s and Duane Reed retailers. The best part is that a percentage of revenue form the line goes to benefit WildAid, a wildlife conservation organization that works with governments and communities of the world to reverse the devastation of our planet’s wildlife. Have we mentioned how much we love Kate Hudson? www.davidbabaiiforwildaid.com
LA FASHION WEEK TO KICK OFF WITH ECO FASHION EVENT ON THE MAYOR'S FRONT LAWN???
We're not kidding...on Thursday, March 13th, an elite group of 15 hand picked fashion designers will present one-of-a-kind eco friendly designs made from
sustainable materials to be shown at an exclusive invitation only event at the Getty House, home of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. Called FutureFashion LA, it is the brainchild of the people behind the Designers & Agents trade show and the Earth Pledge organization, both of which have been instrumental in promoting environmental consciousness in fashion. Particpants include such well known eco designers as Deborah Lindquist, Bahar Shahpar and Stewart+Brown. There are also several mainstream designers, who are now designing with sustainable materials, including Imitation of Christ, Rozae Nichols and Trina Turk. It's no surprise to us that the Mayor is hosting this event. When we attended Designers & Agents last season, the Mayor was making the rounds there, complete with camera crew...
