Between working as a writer and chasing after my two rowdy boys, multitasking has become more than just a buzzword for me…it has become my way of life. As a result, I am always on the lookout for products that save time and allow my life to function more efficiently. More importantly, I am always looking for products that allow me to indulge in a little “me” time. That is why I was THRILLED to discover a product that not only multitasks as hard as I do, but it also combines two of my favorite things: candles and body treatments.
Soy candles by EarthyGlow are my new obsession and, (spoiler alert) I intend to give them to all of my hard working, multitasking mom friends for Christmas. I have actually become so addicted to these double-duty delights that I light one first thing in the morning (which has caused my kids to be late to school on more than one occasion due to the fact that “mommy can’t remember whether I blew
the candle out or not”).
Why light a candle before I’ve even had my first cup of coffee? In addition to the amazing aroma, the warm soybean oil from these candles can be applied directly to the body for a soothing, healing experience that leaves your skin completely moisturized and sumptuously soft.
If you have an aversion to hot wax, based on a bad Brazilian or an unfortunate incident during your pursuit of other more (ahem) pleasurable activities, rest assured that the oil from the EarthyGlow candle is nothing like that. Each hand-poured candle is made from 100 percent soybeans, which melt into pure soybean oil. Because soybean oil burns very close to your own body temperature, there is no risk of giving yourself second-degree burns. On the contrary, soybean oil is full of vitamin E and lecithin that, when applied directly to the body, can transform alligator skin into something that rivals a baby’s bottom.
The way it works is as simple as the pure and all-natural ingredients. Simply select from one of the more than 30 Earth-derived scents, light the wick and then sit back and relax as fragrance fills the room. When the candle has liquefied (1 to 4 hours), extinguish the flame, dip your fingers into the warm and fragrant oil and massage it into your elbows, knees, hands, feet or any area that could benefit from a little softness. (Of course, as with any new product, you should always patch test first for skin sensitivity before liberally slathering yourself.)
As for me, I will stick with my Patchouli and Aloe and Clover EarthyGlow candles. Anything that can multitask as well as I do must be a keeper. Now if I could only figure out a way to get them to blow themselves out…
