Fabulous Finds: "Soleful" Purpose Take Note...

by Marni Fogelson-Teel

I believe in celebrating life and all that it has to offer and I think that’s genetic. My mom sends notes to friends and family everyday…thank you cards, thinking of you cards, birthday cards and…yes…it’s that time of year…holiday cards.

While I find that emails or phone calls suffice for the small stuff, I’m an old-fashioned gal and love hand-written correspondence when it comes to the important things in life… love, babies, graduations, gratitude, etc. Plus, note cards and stationery can be the perfect holiday gift or that nice token you bring to the hostesses of all those holiday parties you’re about to go to. I know…I know…it’s not even Thanksgiving yet, but you know you’re thinking about it already. I’m just here to help.

I fell in love with the B Designs Letterpress collection as soon as I laid eyes on it. Printed on recycled card stock, the cards feature a huge selection of the most adorable graphics, as well as classic simple initials. They even have a line of correspondence cards that double as printable invitations. B Designs combines vintage illustrations with a fresh unfussy look. www.bdesignsinc.com

Remanents uses high-quality recycled paper as the basis for its greeting cards, invitations, and note cards and contributes a percentage of sales of certain cards and overstock items to several local and international non-profit organizations, including overseas troops. The fact that they’ve created flirty and fun cards for virtually every occasion is simply the icing on the cake! www.remanents.com

The clever cards at Set Editions are made using recycled and post-consumer papers and feature punchy letterpress card sets ranging from Morse code to Latin phrases to the phonetic alphabet. I also love their sets of postcards made from recycled chipboard, which come foil-stamped with straightforward and equally diverse messages. www.seteditions.com

Finally, Moonrock Paper Company adds an interesting twist to the stationery empire… its paper products are tree-free. Moonrock uses cotton waste from the t-shirt and nylon manufacturing business and turns it into organic hand made pieces that are as beautiful as they are functional. In addition to stationery, Moonrock makes photo albums, gift bags, frames, and keepsake boxes in hip and sophisticated patterns, including polka dot and floral. I’m planning on buying several sets of the hat boxes to store all my new stationery! Available at www.henryandlulu.com or check out www.moonrockpaper.com to find a store in your area.

Now, don’t you think you should order some thank you notes for all those holiday gifts you’re going to get!
